SITE INFORMATION

A clear place.
A little trust.

What this companion is, where its material comes from, and what happens when you use it.

An official relationship.

You Are Kind is an official Sloan’s Bedtime Lights companion, not an independent review site. It supports one book. The publisher hosts the full book, its PDF, and matching audio; this site does not duplicate the library or offer accounts, purchases, or personalization.

It is distinct from books with the same title by Dr. Seuss or Michael Gordon. There is no implied affiliation with those works or creators.

Privacy, in plain language.

The activities ask for no names, feelings, drawings, recordings, or personal information. Choices and the Make room response stay in the current page’s memory. Reset clears them; navigating away or reloading starts again. We do not save answers in a database, cookies, or browser storage.

No activity input is sent to AI. There are no child accounts, chat, uploads, public galleries, social-sharing tools, advertisements, behavioral scores, or custom activity tracking. Application analytics are disabled in this companion’s configuration.

The hosting service necessarily receives technical requests to deliver pages and images and may keep operational or security logs, including network information such as an IP address. We do not claim those logs are absent or specify an unverified retention period. The hosting platform may provide essential infrastructure services outside this activity’s control.

Following a publisher or historical-source link opens an external website in a new tab. That website has its own privacy practices. There are no embedded publisher pages or autoplaying audio players here.

Room for different ways of reading.

Nothing requires completing an activity. Every dialogue alternative is available as text using “Read every dialogue alternative.” You can use the keyboard, skip to the main content, and stop whenever you like.

Original pictures have text alternatives and retain their full composition. The layout stacks on small screens. Reduced-motion preferences turn off the gentle spacing transitions. The conversation page has a separate, ink-conscious print layout.

If something makes reading difficult, a grown-up can contact the publisher.

Sources and artwork.

Book quotations are identified by physical PDF page. Printed footer numbers differ: for example, physical page 23 shows footer 21. The complete 40-page PDF is the primary source. Its source note is on physical page 37.

The five illustration moments used here come from physical pages 12, 18, 22, 28, and 32. They are publisher-provided book artwork, resized and encoded for web delivery without regenerating people, pets, gestures, or historical relationships.

Historical illustrations are interpretive, not photographs or exact reconstructions. The girl, Mom, and Cali belong to the present-day reflection. Companion conversations and reading prompts are original suggestions, not quotations from historical people. The original book scenes provide the illustrations for this companion.

For grown-ups.

Questions about the book, rights, source corrections, or this companion belong with Sloan’s Bedtime Lights. Children do not need to send a message or share an experience here.
